Digital trust and identity solutions provider eMudhra has been appointed as a Validation Agent of Legal Entity Identifier India (LEIL) within the Global Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) system, enabling organisations to access LEI services through its existing identity verification and onboarding infrastructure.

Through the partnership, eMudhra will incorporate LEI application and renewal capabilities into its digital onboarding processes, allowing organisations to manage identity verification requirements through a single workflow.

The integration is designed to reduce the need for businesses to undergo separate verification checks across multiple services while ensuring LEI issuance and maintenance remain compliant with Global LEI System requirements.

Alexandre Kech, CEO of GLEIF, said, “Sustained growth in the adoption and application of the LEI in India over recent years shows how trusted, verifiable organisational identity supports transparency and interoperability across the global digital economy. Welcoming eMudhra as a Validation Agent will help meet increasing demand for the LEI in India and internationally, supporting regulatory compliance and promoting market-led innovation.”

The move reflects growing demand for trusted digital identity frameworks across financial services and cross-border transactions. By embedding globally recognised organisational identifiers within existing digital trust infrastructure, eMudhra aims to help businesses establish a standardised identity across financial markets, payment systems, regulatory processes and international business networks.

The collaboration comes as LEI adoption continues to accelerate in India. According to the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF), India became the jurisdiction with the highest number of LEIs in January 2026 and recorded the fastest growth in LEI adoption during the second quarter of the year.

Integrating LEI services into established onboarding channels is expected to improve accessibility and support further adoption across the country’s financial ecosystem.

Nand Kishore, Director of LEIL, said, “By combining eMudhra’s operational network and digital capabilities with our decade-long expertise in issuing and managing LEIs, we are enabling organisations to fulfil their identity verification requirements seamlessly. This integration strengthens our validation framework and reinforces our commitment to data quality, transparency, and strict adherence to the regulatory standards.”

From a FinTech perspective, the partnership highlights the increasing role of digital identity infrastructure in enabling compliance, Know Your Business (KYB) processes, and cross-border financial transactions. Standardised entity identification is becoming increasingly important as financial institutions, FinTechs and businesses seek greater transparency, interoperability and automation across digital ecosystems.
