QR Payments, Pix, Brazil, Instant Payments, Real-Time PaymentsRevenue from omnichannel payment platforms is expected to rise 57% over the next five years, increasing from $56 billion in 2026 to $108 billion by 2031, according to research from Juniper Research.

The growth reflects rising demand from merchants for payment infrastructure that can bring multiple sales channels into a single platform. As businesses expand across physical stores, e-commerce, mobile and other digital channels, managing separate payment systems can add operational complexity and costs.

Omnichannel payment platforms aim to address this by consolidating payment channels within a unified infrastructure. The approach can simplify payment operations while giving merchants greater visibility across transactions and customer interactions.

Integration with third-party systems is also becoming increasingly important. Leading platforms are connecting payments with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and other business applications, allowing merchants to integrate payment data more closely with their wider operations.

Juniper Research said providers should prioritise integrations that deliver clear value to merchants rather than pursuing broad connectivity alone. This includes supporting popular third-party platforms in individual target markets, enabling payment providers to tailor their offerings to specific merchant requirements.

The top five platforms for 2026 are:

  1. Stripe
  2. Worldpay
  3. PayPal
  4. Square
  5. Adyen

The research identifies data consolidation as a key strength among the leading providers. By bringing payment information from different channels together, platforms can create a more comprehensive view of merchant activity and customer behaviour.

This consolidated data could become increasingly valuable as payment providers expand beyond transaction processing into higher-value merchant services.

Michael Greenwood, report author at Juniper Research, said payment data is shifting from an operational by-product towards a source of value. According to Greenwood, this will support services including AI-powered analytics, loyalty programmes and personalised customer experiences.

The shift also highlights how competition in omnichannel payments is moving beyond basic transaction acceptance. As merchants seek to simplify their payment infrastructure, providers that can combine broad channel coverage with data capabilities and relevant integrations could be better positioned to capture future growth.

The research suite provides analysis and forecasts covering more than 48,000 datapoints across 71 countries. It also includes the Competitor Leaderboard and an assessment of future opportunities across the omnichannel payment platform market.

With revenue forecast to nearly double by 2031, the market is set to become an increasingly important part of the broader payments infrastructure landscape. For merchants, the focus will be on platforms that can reduce complexity while turning payment data into actionable business value.
