Advance.ai passes global identity fraud detection
By Divya Shah
Advance.ai, a Singapore-based provider of digital identity verification, compliance and credit information solutions, has passed an independent evaluation for detecting AI-generated identity fraud, becoming one of only six companies globally to achieve the certification
The assessment was conducted by biometric testing laboratory BixeLab under the CEN/TS 18099 Injection Attack Detection (IAD) standard, which evaluates a biometric system’s ability to detect and block software-level attacks, including deepfakes, face swaps and synthetic identity videos.
The company’s technology successfully detected and blocked all 600 simulated injection attacks conducted across Android and iOS environments.
The tests involved attempts to bypass identity verification systems by injecting AI-generated content directly into the software pipeline rather than presenting spoofed images or masks to a camera.
Zhang Yi, Head of Product at Advance.ai, said, “Fraudsters are using AI to generate synthetic identities and inject them directly into verification systems, creating attacks that are difficult to detect. This certification provides independent validation that our technology can defend against some of the most advanced threats facing financial institutions today.”
The certification addresses a growing concern for financial institutions and regulated businesses as fraudsters increasingly use artificial intelligence to create synthetic identities and deploy sophisticated deepfake attacks to circumvent digital onboarding and Know Your Customer (KYC) controls.
The latest certification complements its existing iBeta Level 2 certification, which focuses on detecting physical presentation attacks such as printed photographs, replay attacks and masks.
Together, the certifications cover both major attack vectors in biometric identity verification: the camera-facing layer and the software layer behind it.
The company noted that the threat landscape is evolving rapidly as organised fraud networks adopt AI-powered tools to generate increasingly realistic fake identities. This is prompting greater scrutiny from regulators and financial institutions seeking stronger safeguards for digital onboarding, anti-fraud and compliance processes.
Advance.ai provides identity verification and compliance solutions to banks, fintechs, digital platforms and other regulated organisations across Asia, supporting digital customer onboarding, fraud prevention and regulatory compliance initiatives.
