Ripple has strengthened its digital capital markets infrastructure through strategic investments in UK-based FinTech firms ZILO and Licuido, expanding its capabilities in regulated transfer agency, digital asset issuance and collateral mobility.

Nigel Khakoo, SVP, Trading and Markets at Ripple, said: “Tokenization of assets is only the starting point: the real value lies in what can be done with a token, including buying, selling, and settling trades instantly, or using it as collateral to borrow, lend, or post margin.”

The investments have built on Ripple’s existing partnerships with both companies and support its strategy to advance institutional adoption of tokenised financial assets on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

Phil Goffin, Founder and CEO of ZILO, said: “Ripple’s investment enables us to accelerate that work by bringing digital market utility and efficiency directly into our platform for the institutions we serve.”

ZILO has provided digital transfer agency and fund administration technology for asset managers, custodians and transfer agents, supporting tokenised share classes with regulated record-keeping. Licuido, an FCA-regulated trading platform, has enabled the issuance, distribution and execution of tokenised traditional financial assets, allowing them to be used as digital collateral.

Ripple said the additions complement its institutional infrastructure, which combines issuance, custody, collateral management, multi-currency investment and atomic settlement. Its RLUSD stablecoin has served as the regulated cash leg for delivery-versus-payment transactions.

The investments have followed Ripple’s earlier collaboration with Aviva Investors to develop tokenised fund structures on the XRPL alongside partners including ZILO and Licuido. The initiative is aimed at supporting regulated issuance, distribution, custody and collateral use cases for institutional tokenised assets.
