AutoRek acquires Grath to strengthen AI reconciliation
By Milan Rojan
AutoRek has acquired UK-based FinTech Grath to strengthen its AI-powered reconciliation and financial controls offering, expanding its capabilities across enterprise, SaaS and embedded AI deployment models for financial services firms.
Chris Livesey, CEO of AutoRek, said: “Customers want the benefits of AI delivered through governance, auditability and human oversight. By bringing together AutoRek’s enterprise control capabilities with Grath’s AI innovation, customers gain more choice in how they deploy and more confidence in the controls that underpin it.”
The acquisition has combined AutoRek’s reconciliation automation and enterprise financial controls platform with Grath’s AI-driven reconciliation and regulatory compliance technology. The companies said the deal provides customers with greater flexibility to automate reconciliation while maintaining governance, auditability and regulatory oversight.
Founded in 2019, Grath serves banks, payment providers, brokers and FinTechs across the UK, UAE and Australia. Earlier this year, it launched Topa, an API-accessible platform that enables financial institutions to integrate AI-powered matching, machine learning models and agentic reasoning capabilities into their own reconciliation systems.
The combined portfolio has enabled customers to choose between AutoRek’s enterprise private cloud platform, Grath’s multi-tenant SaaS solution or Topa’s embedded AI infrastructure, depending on their operational and regulatory requirements.
Matt Povey, CEO of Grath, said: “Financial services is at an inflection point. Institutions no longer want to choose between robust enterprise controls and the speed of AI-led innovation, and now they do not have to.”
The acquisition has also supported AutoRek’s international expansion strategy by adding Grath’s US and UAE client base to its operations. The move has followed the opening of AutoRek’s Miami office and further investment in its North American growth strategy earlier this year.
