Visa and Lianlian DigiTech have completed the first live business-to-business (B2B) agentic transaction using LoopXPay, marking a milestone in AI-powered commercial payments and demonstrating how autonomous AI agents can streamline procurement and payment workflows for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Darren Parslow, Global Head of Visa Commercial Solutions at Visa, said: “AI-powered commerce experiences can help businesses simplify purchasing and payments while maintaining the controls and oversight they require.”

The transaction was completed using LoopXPay, Lianlian’s AI agent, which has identified a purchasing requirement, has recommended suppliers, has compared product options, has placed an order and has executed the payment within a single automated workflow. The process has operated within predefined spending limits and approval controls to maintain oversight throughout the transaction.

Zhang Zhengyu, Founder, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Lianlian DigiTech, said: “AI is reshaping the entire commercial value chain, where a growing number of business activities will be autonomously executed by AI agents, with payments serving as the critical infrastructure connecting them to global commerce.”

The milestone has highlighted how AI-powered commerce has simplified purchasing and payment processes for SMBs while reducing manual effort. Commercial activities have been supported through intelligent automation without compromising governance, transparency or spending controls.

As part of the collaboration, LoopXPay has been registered in Visa’s Agentic Directory, supporting the implementation of Visa’s Trusted Agent Protocol. The directory has enabled participating businesses and merchants to identify verified AI agents, while greater transparency and trust have been provided for agent-driven commercial interactions.

Building on the initial transaction, additional AI-driven use cases were explored across procurement, digital advertising optimisation and B2B platform payments, while trusted agentic commerce has been advanced through greater efficiency, transparency and security.
