Ominimo reaches $1.6bn valuation after Series B funding round
By Milan Rojan
Ominimo has secured $22.5 million in Series B funding, reaching a valuation of $1.6 billion and becoming the first insurance unicorn in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
Dusan Komar, Co-founder and CEO, Ominimo, said: “Reaching unicorn status is an important milestone and reflects confidence in our technology, business model and team. We are continuing to build on this momentum as we expand internationally.”
The funding round was led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and has marked a significant milestone for the AI-driven motor insurance provider, which was founded in 2024. Ominimo said the investment has supported its plans to expand into additional European markets, strengthen its AI capabilities and pursue further international growth.
Bruno Lusic, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), said: “Ominimo combines exceptional growth with strong business fundamentals. We are pleased to support the company in its next phase of development.”
The company has used artificial intelligence and advanced risk modelling to offer personalised motor insurance pricing based on driving behaviour and a wider range of data points than traditional underwriting models. Ominimo said its approach has enabled it to scale rapidly while remaining profitable.
Since its launch, the company has expanded into four European Union markets and has grown to nearly one million customers. It has also exceeded $350 million in annualised gross written premium and plans to enter six additional European markets before expanding into the US.
Poland has emerged as one of Ominimo’s fastest-growing markets since the company entered the country in 2025 through a partnership with Zurich Insurance Group.
Ominimo said the latest funding has positioned the company to accelerate product development and expand its AI-powered insurance platform across new international markets.
