Wayflyer secures $1.5bn forward-flow agreement with Fortress
By Milan Rojan
Wayflyer has secured a three-year forward-flow agreement with Fortress Investment Group that will fund up to $1.5 billion in small business credit assets originated through the FinTech’s lending platform.
The agreement has strengthened Wayflyer’s funding capacity as the company seeks to expand access to working capital for small businesses. Under the arrangement, Fortress will purchase up to $1.5 billion in eligible credit assets over the next three years.
Wayflyer has said the facility will allow it to unlock the value of its loans upfront, improving capital efficiency and enabling it to extend financing to more businesses while continuing to invest in its platform.
The Dublin-headquartered FinTech uses sales and business performance data to underwrite short-term financing for eCommerce brands. Since its launch in 2020, the company has deployed more than $6 billion in working capital to small businesses.
Aidan Corbett, CEO and co-founder of Wayflyer, said: “A forward-flow facility of this scale gives us committed, reliable capital to put to work for our small business customers, while letting us manage our own balance sheet far more efficiently.”
Wayflyer has also outlined plans to deploy $4.5 billion in small business financing by 2028, with the latest agreement expected to support that growth strategy.
The company has continued to expand its funding base through partnerships with institutional investors. Earlier this year, it secured a separate $250 million credit facility arranged by ATLAS SP Partners to support lending activity.
Founded in 2020, Wayflyer provides revenue-based financing and working capital solutions to online merchants, using data-driven underwriting to deliver funding decisions. The latest agreement has highlighted continued institutional interest in FinTech-enabled lending platforms that provide capital to small and medium-sized businesses through technology-led credit models.
