ABN AMRO has announced that it has added Google Pay as a new payment option within its app. With Google Pay available as a service, clients can now use their phones for contactless payment, at no extra charge: in shops, in food and drink establishments and even at the market.

“We want to make digital payment faster and easier for our clients. We’re seeing that more and more clients prefer to pay using their mobile phones. Now they can: simply activate Google Pay in the ABN AMRO app, and you can leave your bank card at home. Your mobile phone is a digital bank card that’s with you wherever you are. Google Pay is fast, simple and secure. That’s what we’re offering clients with the Google Pay service, and ABN AMRO is proud of this step,” said Sander Littooy, Product Owner Digital Payments at ABN AMRO.

The company also allows business owners to use the ABN AMRO internet banking environment to select and assign individual invoices to ABN AMRO. If an invoice is selected, 90% of the invoice amount will be credited to the business’ account within one day of the invoice being approved.

Recently, ABN AMRO teamed up with Charly Cares in a bid to launch a pilot for providing babysitters with instant access to their earnings immediately after they finished their jobs. According to the company stated that gig workers in the Netherlands are forced to wait days if not weeks to receive their earnings, while they would have received their money right away if not working for a platform. The new service aims to offer gig workers and their platforms with instant access to earning for services delivered. It will leverage the company’s payment technology that allows for instant transfer of funds to any bank account with a fast onboarding process.
