Zopa has launched a targeted support service designed to help customers choose suitable investment funds, becoming the first UK bank to receive regulatory approval for the offering.

The new service aims to bridge the gap between generic financial guidance and regulated financial advice, helping customers make more informed investment decisions.

As part of the onboarding process for Zopa Investments, customers can choose to receive support by answering nine questions covering their investor profile, attitude to risk, confidence in decision-making and reaction to uncertainty. Based on their responses, as well as investment choices made by customers with similar profiles, Zopa recommends a fund aligned with their investment preferences.

The digital bank entered the investments market to address the needs of millions of UK consumers who hold excess cash savings and are looking for ways to grow their money. Zopa currently offers two ready-made funds managed by Invesco: Balanced and Bold. The investment products are integrated into the Zopa platform through Upvest’s API infrastructure, enabling customers to start investing with as little as £1.

Merve Ferrero, Chief Strategy Officer at Zopa Bank, said, “We’ve seen a persistent gap between people’s intention to invest and their confidence to take that first step, even when they have meaningful cash savings. Too many consumers are unsure whether investing is right for them, whether they can make good decisions, or how much risk they should take. Our targeted support service is designed to close that gap, giving first-time investors the confidence and clarity to get started and make their money work harder — with greater peace of mind.”

The launch follows a strong period of growth for Zopa, which recently reported its third consecutive year of profitability, generating pre-tax profits of £65 million for the financial year ended 31 December 2025.

The digital bank has also received industry recognition, including being named the UK’s Best App for 2026 at the British Bank Awards. Zopa said the new service forms part of its wider strategy to make investing more accessible and straightforward for customers seeking to build long-term wealth.
