Worldline promotes the TruBlo project by the European Commission
By Joy Dumasia
Worldline, the European leader in the payments and transactional services industry, is leading the TruBlo project under the European Commission’s “Next Generation Internet” initiative, which aims to provide researchers and companies with funding to develop innovative solutions based on Blockchain technology to address the issue of trust in social media content.
In the context of TruBlo and led by Worldline, a consortium of European partners with different profiles and capabilities has been formed. The members of the consortium are:
- The Blockchain experts from Athens University of Technology.
- ATC, a company specialising in developing technologies and a specialist in detecting and combating fake news.
- Deutsche Welle, a German public international broadcasting company that provides services in 30 languages.
- F6S, the world’s largest community of startups and SMEs.
- ALASTRIA, a Spanish Blockchain infrastructure provider.
Three Open Calls are planned as part of the execution of the international TruBlo project. Research teams can attend these SMEs or academic groups interested in developing new tools and solutions that create state of the art, trusted and reliable content on social networks and the Internet.
Toni Paradell, R&D Manager of Worldline Iberia & TruBlo Project Coordinator, said: “After the success of Open Call 1 in which we have selected 10 very innovative projects that will receive support and funding from the TruBlo programme over the coming months, we have just opened Open Call 2 for which we hope to receive very innovative proposals based on Blockchain technology that contribute to the trust and reliability of content on social networks and the Internet.”
Recently, IBS Intelligence reported that Worldline, the European provider of payments and transactional services, announced it has partnered with Porter Airlines to offer popular digital wallets, namely WeChat Pay and PayPal, for bookings through the airline’s website. Porter uses Worldline’s TravelHub solution, which gives travel companies global end-to-end payment processing capabilities and regional access to markets across Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America.
