Wicrypt to hold IDO on OccamRazer’s decentralized launchpad
By Edlyn Cardoza
Wicrypt, the first blockchain-based WiFi sharing network from Africa, recently announced that their $WNT token will make its debut on OccamRazer on the 30th of November 2021. Wicrypt is a decentralized mobile internet sharing and monetization network, introducing a new type of virtual Internet Service Provider (ISP) which gives users the power to control their own mobile internet data and earn money. Through the Wicrypt protocol, the end-to-end encryption of user data is enabled, empowering anyone to share and monetize their data and bring decentralized internet services to anyone worldwide—even those in remote communities. The company has already signed service contracts with several organizations, including the city of Enugu in Nigeria.
Ugochukwu Aronu, CEO of Wicrypt Network, says: “At Wicrypt we are passionate about bringing secure, cost effective, and seamless connectivity to everyone, anywhere in the world. Through blockchain, we can empower users to share and monetize their data, regardless of whether they are an individual, a business, or a local community group. We’re pleased to be launching our IDO through OccamRazer and we look forward to welcoming the Occam community to our ecosystem.”
The Wicrypt network is powered by a native token, the Wicrypt Network Token, ticker symbol ‘$WNT’. WNT tokens are used to incentivise WiFi hosts within the Wicrypt ecosystem to create and manage WiFi zones, which in turn enable users to have access to the internet and power IoT devices for seamless connectivity. Wicrypt-connected devices are all represented by unique NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) that are linked to the blockchain. Data points transmitted through the devices are all represented on the blockchain through the NFTs in real time on the Wicrypt block explorer.
Additionally, $WNT is used to pay fees to WiFi hosts for providing their hotspot creator devices, also called micro-nodes within the company’s network. Elliot Hill, Head of Communications at Occam.fi, says: “Wicrypt is an exciting project both from a technical and a societal perspective, changing the way users access internet services through the power of decentralization. We will leverage our expertise in the Cardano ecosystem to ensure that Wicrypt’s IDO is a resounding success.”
The company already has funding partners led by AU21 Capital, with participation from Polygon founder Sandeep Nailwal, Cardano’s Occam, Inclusion Capital, Outlier Ventures, Chain Capital, Pluto Digital Assets, Omega Ventures, N7 Labs, and PolkaFoundary. Registration for Wicrypt’s IDO will open on the OccamRazer launchpad shortly.
