Vult, Velmie, Digital Financia; Super App, FinTech, Metro Cable, Sierra Leone, AfricaVelmie has provided the core banking technology behind Vult, Sierra Leone’s first digital financial super app. The launch marks a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation of financial services and supports broader efforts to expand access across Africa.

Developed in partnership with Metro Cable, Sierra Leone’s leading fibre broadband provider, Vult has begun gaining traction among users. The platform combines mobile money, card payments, banking services, and bill payments into a single digital ecosystem, built on Velmie’s banking infrastructure.

“Africa is one of the most dynamic frontiers for digital financial innovation,” said Paul Shumsky, Chief Marketing Officer at Velmie. “What we have delivered in Sierra Leone is not just an app — it’s the infrastructure for financial empowerment. Vult is the proof point that Velmie’s platform is purpose-built to help institutions across the continent modernise, scale, and lead.”

The technology behind the platform is based on Velmie’s modular, API-first architecture, allowing Metro Cable to move from project initiation to app launch in under six months. Designed for scalability, the platform aims to expand financial access in underserved areas while offering a comprehensive suite of services to the banked population.

Key features of the platform include:

  • Rapid Deployment: A fully digital banking solution launched within months.
  • Multi-Currency Support: Wallet functionality available in Sierra Leonean Leone (SLE) and US dollars.
  • Bank Integrations: Enjoy live connectivity with local banks, including Rokel Commercial Bank, GTBank & Access Bank.
  • Card Issuance: Integration with OneAfriq (GTP) for virtual and physical cards.
  • USSD Access: Mobile money services extended to users without internet access via Monime.
  • Merchant Services: Launch of Vult Pay Point to enable digital payments for local businesses.

The deployment aims to address challenges linked to financial inclusion, offering digital services to a broader population while maintaining security and compliance standards. Velmie’s involvement is part of a broader movement to provide African financial institutions with the necessary infrastructure to adapt to a digital-first environment.

“Velmie has been instrumental in helping us achieve a seamless digital launch,” said Aminata Bangura, Head of Product at Vult. “Their infrastructure gave us the flexibility to adapt to market realities and the scalability to grow with confidence. We are proud to bring world-class financial tools to Sierra Leoneans — and we are just getting started.”
