Velmie, Flot team up to launch pan-Africa digital banking platform
By Aarav Garg

Velmie has partnered with Flot to support the launch of a scalable digital banking platform aimed at consumers and businesses across Africa, as FinTech providers increasingly seek modular infrastructure capable of operating across fragmented regional payment ecosystems.
The partnership will combine Velmie’s digital banking integration and delivery capabilities with Flot’s neobank ambitions to accelerate rollout of financial services tailored to African market conditions. The platform is designed to support digital wallets, virtual and physical cards, mobile money connectivity, bank transfers, merchant payments, onboarding, and KYC/AML compliance workflows.
The collaboration reflects growing demand for infrastructure partners that can manage the full FinTech deployment lifecycle, from API integration and testing to production support and ongoing maintenance. African FinTech operators continue to face challenges around fragmented payment rails, complex compliance requirements, and scaling platforms across multiple markets while maintaining operational reliability.
Under the agreement, Flot will use Velmie’s integration-first approach to develop a digital banking ecosystem capable of supporting both retail and business use cases. Planned capabilities include peer-to-peer transfers, utility payments, airtime top-ups, merchant settlement services, agent banking functionality, and multi-currency transaction support.
The deal also highlights a broader shift across African Fintech markets toward API-driven banking infrastructure and outsourced execution models that reduce time-to-market for regulated financial institutions and electronic money issuers.
