TrueLayer has announced the appointment of Ben Foster as the new VP of engineering. Ben will be responsible for managing and scaling the engineering team, working directly with TrueLayer’s CTO and co-founder Luca Martinetti to design and execute the firm’s technology strategy and roadmap.

“The open banking space is incredibly exciting and the fact we can put customers in control of their data and deliver services that work from them is something I feel passionate about,” commented Foster. “The opportunity to work at an innovator and market leader like TrueLayer that is helping to drive that change is incredibly exciting. I’m looking forward to working with Luca and the team as we evolve our existing offerings and build new ones.”

Previously, he was the was SVP of Engineering at Checkout.com. He was the founder and CTO at Fabrik, a portfolio platform that enables creatives to easily add media, blog and share their work without touching any code.

“I love helping teams scale, ensuring people have the growth opportunities available to progress and promoting a customer-centric approach to engineering,” Foster added. “As TrueLayer continues to expand its product team, I’ll be looking at how we maintain our culture of sharing, excellence and the focus on execution, while also avoiding the silo effect that can occur as you experience huge growth.”

Luca Martinetti, CTO and co-founder of TrueLayer commented, “This is a hugely important role for us as we move through 2021, with ambitious plans to expand our existing offerings and launch new services. That meant finding someone who was excited by the challenge that open banking-based services present, and understood our mission and vision for delivering those services. I’m delighted that we found that with Ben. His can-do attitude, talent and track record, particularly from his time at Checkout, and his mindful approach to building engineering capabilities really aligned to our thinking. I can’t wait to see his impact on our teams, our services, and how he helps us foster and attract the best engineering talent.”

Recently, TrueLayer announced that investment platform Trading 212 has implemented its platform to deliver an improved investment and user experience. The implementation begins with the data API delivering the rapid identification and verification of a user’s primary bank and connecting it to the Trading 212 app. From inside the app, the payments API means users can then quickly and securely fund their investment account, using Payments Initiation.
