Why it matters: For FinTechs, it demonstrates how payment data can be transformed into actionable intelligence, enabling automated decision-making, fraud monitoring, customer support, and operational efficiency. The move also signals increasing demand for AI-native tools embedded directly into payment infrastructure.

Stitch, the payments infrastructure provider serving some of South Africa’s largest retailers, insurers, telecoms companies, and financial institutions, launched Pulse, a new suite of AI-driven software designed to help businesses gain more value from their payments data.

The first product in the suite, Pulse Analytics, acts as an AI agent that analyses a company’s payment data, provides insights in plain language, and helps teams identify issues, opportunities, and trends in real time. The solution will soon be made available to all Stitch payments clients, with access to their full payment history.

Junaid Dadan, President and Co-founder of Stitch, said, “Pulse Analytics lets the people closest to those decisions spot a problem or opportunity, understand it and act on it the same day. It’s the first of several products we’re building to help our clients get more from every payment they process and improve efficiency across the business.”

The launch marks Stitch’s expansion beyond payments infrastructure into AI-powered business intelligence. Drawing on tools it originally built internally to manage reporting, fraud prevention, onboarding, and operational workflows, the company is now making those capabilities available to enterprise customers through a broader AI-native platform.

Pulse will initially focus on analytics, fraud prevention, and KYC/KYB onboarding, with additional products planned for future release.

According to Stitch, Pulse Analytics is designed to support users across an organisation, from executives to customer support teams. The platform provides daily role-based briefings on business performance, explains changes in key metrics and their financial impact, and allows users to ask questions about payment activity in natural language.

The system can also generate alerts for specific events, customers, stores, or metrics, helping teams proactively identify issues. In addition, authorised users can initiate approved actions, including refunds and payouts, within existing permission structures and audit controls.

Pulse Analytics also enables organisations to create charts, dashboards, and reports through simple prompts, making payment intelligence more accessible across departments while maintaining role-based access controls.

Pulse Analytics is expected to be rolled out to all existing Stitch payments clients, while businesses not currently using Stitch’s payment services can request a demonstration of the platform.

The launch reflects a broader trend of payment providers embedding artificial intelligence into operational and analytics workflows, helping businesses turn transaction data into actionable insights and automate routine processes.
