Santander UK appoints former Pay.UK CEO as the new Chief of Payments

santanderSantander UK announced the appointment of Paul Horlock as its new Chief Payments Officer. Paul will be assuming the new position next year and will be responsible for creating a single UK Payments team operating across the business and working alongside the European region as part of One Santander.

Deputy Chief Executive Tony Prestedge said, “This is a fantastic appointment for Santander. Paul has unrivaled experience and expertise and will use this to bring our payments strategy, functions, risk management, infrastructure and digital development together to help ensure that we are able to offer our customers a market leading end to end experience. Paul is renowned for encouraging innovation and collaboration and this approach will enable us to support our wider Group ambitions in the global payments sector.”

Recently, he was the Chief Executive of Pay.UK, which he joined at their inception in October 2017 and has previously held senior positions at Nationwide and Barclays. He also brings around 15 years of experience in the payments sector to Santander UK.

Paul Horlock said, “I am thrilled to be joining Santander UK. Payments is a critical part of the UK’s financial infrastructure and I am excited by the opportunity to help shape and develop Santander’s strategy and support the wider Group in this sector.”

Recently, Santander UK teamed up with Personetics for facilitating the launch of a new digital solution called ‘My Money Manager’. The solution will be integrated into the Bank’s mobile banking app and will offer financial tips, personalised spending insights as well as upcoming financial commitments through push notifications.
