OpenWay enters Africa with Moroccan bank partnership
By Vriti Gothi

OpenWay has expanded into Francophone Africa to bring advanced payment technology and dedicated local support to banks and FinTech innovators across the region, furthering the continent’s transition towards next-generation financial services.
As part of this expansion, OpenWay has signed a long-term technology partnership with a leading tier-1 Moroccan bank to enable its ambitious digital transformation programme. The agreement marks a pivotal moment for financial institutions in Morocco and Tunisia, granting them access to Way4, a platform recognised by Gartner and Datos for its innovation, flexibility, and market leadership.
Already trusted by African institutions such as Equity Bank in Kenya and FinTech disruptor SanuPay in Ethiopia, Way4 delivers a unified payments ecosystem that powers real-time, always-on issuing, acquiring, and processing for digital-first services; accelerates product launches through flexible, configurable architecture; consolidates cards, digital wallets, A2A transfers, merchant acquiring, cryptocurrency, and CBDC on a single platform; ensures enterprise-grade security, compliance, and reliability; and enables seamless scalability across multiple regions and markets.
In parallel, OpenWay is establishing a dedicated North Africa team to provide tailored, on-the-ground expertise for clients in Morocco and Tunisia. This local service hub will be backed by OpenWay’s global delivery network and supported by strategic collaboration with partners from Sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring regional relevance and cultural alignment in every engagement.
Jean Philippe Wolyniec, Regional Sales Director, OpenWay, said, “Progress in Africa is not a solo act it is a community journey. We are proud to co-create impact with our clients and support their mission to deliver inclusive, secure, and future-ready payment experiences.”
By combining world-class technology with regional insight, OpenWay’s expansion positions Francophone Africa to leapfrog into the era of inclusive, digitally driven financial services—enabling institutions to innovate faster, serve customers better, and compete globally.
