OpenLegacy has integrated its platform with AWS Transform for Modernisation, enabling enterprises to maintain connectivity between mainframe systems and cloud-based workloads during phased migration programmes.

The integration has supported AWS Transform for Modernisation’s incremental approach to legacy transformation, allowing organisations to modernise individual workloads while keeping them connected to systems that remain on the mainframe. The solution was designed to reduce operational disruption and support hybrid operating environments throughout the migration process.

Omri Kessel, General Manager, Agentic AI Modernisation, AWS., said, “The AWS Transform for Modernisation composability framework lets us bring in the right capability for each phase, and OpenLegacy is a great example: it keeps each workload we move to AWS communicating with the mainframe behind it, so customers modernise incrementally, in months, instead of betting the business on a big-bang cutover.”

OpenLegacy’s technology has generated integration bridges and API facades that enable communication between cloud-native applications and legacy mainframe environments. Embedded directly within AWS Transform for Modernisation, the capability has allowed users to create cloud APIs and integration points during the decomposition stage of migration without relying on separate tools.

Ron Rabinowitz, CEO, OpenLegacy, said, “Mainframe modernization succeeds when the old and the new can work together. By embedding OpenLegacy into AWS Transform for Modernization, organizations can bridge legacy systems and cloud-native environments in a coexistence model, enabling phased modernization one business process at a time.”

The integration has expanded AWS Transform for Modernization’s composability framework, which brings together capabilities spanning assessment, documentation, transformation, testing and deployment. The offering is aimed at enterprises in sectors including financial services, insurance and telecommunications that are modernising complex legacy infrastructures.
