Mizuho Bank selects Traydstream to digitise trade finance operations
By Divya Shah
Mizuho Bank has selected Traydstream’s TraydCheck and TraydConnect solutions as part of its trade finance digitisation programme, strengthening the FinTechs’s footprint in Japan’s banking sector.
With Mizuho joining Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), all three Japanese megabanks have now adopted TraydCheck, making Traydstream the only trade finance-focused fintech serving the trio through a shared document checking platform.
TraydCheck uses intelligent automation to streamline the review of trade finance documentation, helping banks reduce manual processing, improve consistency and speed up transaction turnaround times.
TraydConnect complements these capabilities by enhancing digital connectivity and collaboration between financial institutions and their corporate customers.
Yutaka Izawa, Managing Director of Traydstream, said Mizuho’s decision to deploy TraydCheck and TraydConnect reflects increasing demand for intelligent and connected trade finance technology in Japan. He noted that adoption of the platform by all three megabanks creates an opportunity to drive greater efficiency and consistency across the country’s trade finance ecosystem.
The development is expected to have broader implications beyond the banking industry. Japan’s megabanks play a central role in supporting corporates, trading houses and exporters, and the use of a common document checking platform could help standardise documentary trade processes, reduce duplicated effort and improve information exchange between counterparties.
The agreement also highlights Traydstream’s continued investment in Japan, combining its regional expertise with global trade finance capabilities to address the evolving needs of banks and corporate clients. The company said it would continue working closely with Mizuho, MUFG, SMBC and its wider network of customers and partners to support the digital transformation of trade finance.
