Ingenico has secured $174 million in new capital from a group of global investors led by PIMCO, as the payments technology provider looks to accelerate product development and strengthen its customer offering.

The Paris-based company has announced an agreement to reset its capital structure, with the investment expected to support innovation across its payment acceptance portfolio. Newly appointed CEO Floris de Kort has said the additional capital will enable Ingenico to move faster on product development, payment operations and customer services.

Floris de Kort, Chief Executive Officer, Ingenico, said: “With a strong balance sheet and new capital in place, we can execute better and invest in the areas that will define our next phase.”

Ingenico has continued to expand its AXIUM range of Android-based payment devices, which is designed for retailers, banks, acquirers and FinTech firms. The platform has supported integrated payment services and is designed to allow devices to receive future Android upgrades without requiring replacement.

The company has also been developing Ingenico 360, a cloud-based platform that combines device management, transaction services, applications and analytics. Its Developer Journey provides APIs, tools and documentation aimed at helping partners and independent software vendors build and launch payment services more efficiently.

The new funding is also expected to support Ingenico’s Customer Excellence operations and international expansion. The company has highlighted plans to strengthen its presence in London, San Francisco and Istanbul, bringing customer-facing teams closer to clients and partners.

The investment will support Ingenico’s product development, cloud-based platforms and expansion of its customer-facing operations across key international markets. For Ingenico, the fresh capital is expected to provide additional support as it develops its next phase of payment acceptance technology and expands its global customer base.
