This update, launching in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Spain, and Poland over the next few weeks, provides a safer and more convenient way for kids to handle digital transactions while giving parents control over their spending habits.

With this new feature, children can use Google Wallet to tap and pay securely in stores and store digital passes such as event tickets, library cards, and gift cards in one place. The goal is to offer young users a seamless payment experience while ensuring parents have the necessary tools to oversee their financial activities.

Security remains a top priority for Google Wallet. To ensure responsible usage, a child’s payment cards can only be added with parental consent. Additionally, parents will receive email notifications for every transaction their child makes, providing full visibility into their spending.

Parents can also manage their child’s Google Wallet experience through Family Link, a tool that allows them to:

  • Track recent purchases
  • Remove or update payment cards
  • Disable access to digital passes as needed

By integrating these security features, Google Wallet aims to provide a controlled yet flexible digital payment environment for families, helping children learn responsible spending while ensuring their financial safety.

This update is part of Google’s broader push to make digital payments more accessible while maintaining stringent security measures. As digital wallets continue to grow in popularity, this feature positions Google Wallet as a family-friendly solution that balances convenience with control.
