By Megha Bhattacharya
Fingerprints Cards recently announced that it is enabling Rocker to launch a contactless biometric payment card pilot with its customers in Sweden during Q1 2021. The card has been developed in collaboration with IDEMIA and has Fingerprints’ T-Shape sensor module integration. The integration is expected to facilitate the delivery of hygienic and convenient contactless payments.
Recently, the biometrics company Fingerprints announced the launch of the second generation of its T-Shape sensor and software platform for contactless biometric payment cards. The company said that the new product is part of the FPC1300 – series and is expected to deliver increased image quality and transaction speed as well as improved power efficiency by combining extensive R&D investment with key learnings from more than 20 market pilots and commercial rollouts.
The new update aims to enable the production of cost-effective biometric payment cards. It will also add improved security features, including encryption as well as additional privacy layers to the storage and communication of biometric data.
It also partnered with STMicroelectronics in a bid to develop an advanced Biometric System-on-Card (BSoc) solution based on fingerprint-recognition technology for contributing to the enhancement of contactless payment-card security and convenience.
Founded in 1997 by Lennart Carlson, Fingerprint Cards is a Swedish biometrics company that develops and produces biometric systems.
