Swedish FinTech company Fidesmo and SEB have teamed up for the launch of the wearable payment service Fidesmo Pay in Denmark and Finland. Fidesmo Pay aims to enable banks to offer their customers a secure way to make contactless payments, by letting them pay with a wearable of their own choice. SEB launched the wearable payment service to their customers in Sweden and Norway in 2019 and today they further expand the offering to customers in Denmark and Finland.
Recently, Fidesmo announced a collaboration with Swiss watch brand Mondaine in a bid to integrate its wearable payment service, Fidesmo Pay into the latter’s watch collection. The partnership will enable payment cards with support for Fidesmo Pay to connect to the Mondaine PayChip service.
The collaboration is expected to enable cardholders from other European banks in multiple regions, to make contactless payments with the Mondaine PayChip.
The company stated that wearables used with Fidesmo Pay are provided by several European fashion brands and can be bought either online or in-store. Launched in 2013, Fidesmo allows for connection to contactless services, such as payment, public transport tickets, office/hotel, and car keys, to both passive and active devices. The Swedish technology company provides a streamlined integration process for manufacturers to add contactless services to their devices and for contactless service providers to distribute their services without any hardware overhead to many devices.
