Why it matters: Agentic AI could shorten digital banking development cycles, improve customer service and reduce costs, while requiring strong governance and human oversight.

Finshape has launched Agentic DBOS (ADBOS), an agentic artificial intelligence (AI) solution that extends its Digital Bank Operating System (DBOS) to help banks develop and deliver digital services more quickly.

The platform is designed to support the full development process, from analysing customer needs and designing services to development, testing and launch. It also aims to help banks deliver more personalised customer interactions, improve servicing and identify new revenue opportunities.

Finshape said ADBOS could help banks accelerate delivery, improve customer experiences, reduce servicing costs and create additional revenue streams. However, it also highlighted the importance of ensuring that AI in banking remains predictable, auditable and under the control of financial institutions.

ADBOS builds on Finshape’s DBOS platform, which is used by more than 100 banks worldwide, and draws on the company’s three decades of banking experience. Its AI agents are designed to work with existing banking platforms rather than requiring banks to replace their established systems.

Neil Budd, CEO of Finshape, said banks needed a foundation that would allow them to adapt to changing customer and technology demands while maintaining control over their operations. He described ADBOS as providing banks with the speed, intelligence and control needed to compete.

The platform is already being used in projects for OTP Group. Finshape’s delivery team also uses ADBOS agents in its daily work, with the first digital application developed with their support now in production.

Finshape said recent projects using ADBOS had brought initial production versions of digital services live within six to seven months. Comparable minimum viable products (MVPs) developed in previous projects had taken between nine and 12 months.

The company attributed the faster delivery to the use of AI agents across its development and delivery processes.

András Sebők, CIO of OTP Bank, said the project was progressing at a strong pace and highlighted the close cooperation between the teams. He added that OTP Bank was satisfied with the collaboration and the results delivered so far.

The launch reflects Finshape’s effort to bring agentic AI into digital banking development and operations, while keeping the technology connected to banks’ existing systems and operational controls.
