DBS rolls out agentic AI for corporate credit assessments
By Milan Rojan
DBS has rolled out an agentic AI solution to streamline credit assessments for corporate banking clients, enabling relationship managers and credit risk managers to prepare review-ready credit memos more efficiently.
The solution was deployed to approximately 1,500 employees globally following a pilot involving 150 users. DBS has said the technology has been designed to support more than 70 tasks involved in preparing complex credit assessments for large and mid-sized corporate clients.
The agentic AI capability has synthesised structured and unstructured information from sources including annual reports, industry research and internal records to generate a first draft of a credit memo. Relationship managers and credit risk managers have then been able to refine the draft by adding industry expertise, client knowledge and business context.
DBS has estimated that credit memos and related activities can account for up to 40% of relationship managers’ time. The bank has targeted a reduction of at least 30% in the time spent on these activities.
Han Kwee Juan, Group Head of Institutional Banking, DBS, has said the solution has captured knowledge from experienced relationship managers and credit risk managers and has translated it into a scalable capability for credit analysis.
The rollout has formed part of DBS’ wider strategy to become an AI-enabled bank, with human expertise supported through artificial intelligence. The bank has also expanded agentic AI across customer and employee journeys.
In July, DBS announced enhancements to its virtual assistants, DBS Joy and DBS digibot. The bank has said these tools will support around 10 million customers across Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The latest deployment has reflected the growing adoption of agentic AI within banking operations, particularly for research, analysis and workflow automation.
