Chorley Building Society completes core banking migration with TCS
By Divya Shah
UK-based Chorley Building Society has completed the migration of its core banking and lending operations in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), marking the conclusion of a digital transformation programme announced in late 2024.
The Lancashire-headquartered mutual successfully transitioned to TCS BaNCS, TCS’ flagship core banking platform, alongside the company’s digital home lending solution.
Following the completion of the migration, Chorley Building Society stated that the new technology infrastructure is expected to enhance broker experiences, strengthen digital engagement for members, and improve the organisation’s ability to respond to evolving customer requirements.
The implementation forms part of Chorley’s broader modernisation strategy as it seeks to expand digital capabilities while continuing to support its mortgage and savings customers across England, Scotland and Wales.
TCS has continued to strengthen its footprint in the UK mutual and credit union sector, with existing clients including Cumberland Building Society, Mansfield Building Society, London Mutual Credit Union and Voyager Alliance Credit Union.
The migration was completed several months after Kimberly Roby assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer in May 2026, succeeding Stephen Penlington, who retired after leading the building society for two decades.
