American Express Mexico, with a vision to provide the best experience to its customers every day, all over the world, has announced offering its Cardholders enrolled in Apple Pay a secure and private way to make payments without touching a terminal or cash.

Amex customers only have to hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make a contactless payment. Purchases made through Apple Pay is secure because it is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or the device’s access code, as well as a unique dynamic security code. Company holders can use Apple Pay in places that accept American Express Cards.

When American Express Customers use Apple Pay, their actual Card numbers are not stored on the device or on the server. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned and encrypted and stored in the Secure Element, an industry-standard certified chip designed to store payment information securely on the device.

“At American Express, we provide our customers with exceptional products, services and experiences every day. For this reason, we are very excited to offer Apple Pay to our Cardholders in Mexico, as contactless payments are becoming part of our lifestyle. It is also another benchmark of our digital capabilities, focus on innovation and, of course, one more example of our support for Customers,” said Santiago Fernández Vidal, President and CEO of American Express Mexico.

Cardholders can use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad and Mac to make purchases through apps, or via the Internet in Safari, without having to create accounts or repeatedly enter shipping and billing information.

Additionally, as of February 23 and until May 20, 2021, American Express Cardholders who use Apple Pay for the first time and who previously activate the promotion will be able to receive a refund of $ 100 MXN for every $ 100 MXN spent on different stores (up to a maximum of $ 500 MXN)
