Why this Matters: Razorpay has secured a final PSP licence from IFSCA, enabling cross-border payments, multi-currency transactions, international collections and global investment services from GIFT City.

Razorpay received the final Payment Service Provider (PSP) licence from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), enabling the FinTech to operate from Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) and facilitate cross-border financial transactions.

The approval follows the in-principle licence granted to the company in April 2026 and allows Razorpay to support international collections, settlements, global investments and multi-currency transactions through its GIFT City-based infrastructure.

The company said it has completed banking integrations with RBL Bank and ICICI Bank, while integrations with investment platforms are expected to go live in the coming weeks.

Rahul Kothari, Chief Operations Officer at Razorpay, said the licence would enable the company to support foreign currency transactions, including holding funds in multi-currency accounts, and facilitate cross-border financial flows.

Razorpay added that its infrastructure will enable investment platforms to connect through a single integration layer, allowing Indian residents to access overseas investment opportunities more efficiently. According to the company, onboarding timelines that typically take several months could be reduced to just two to three weeks.

The development comes as overseas investing continues to gain momentum among Indian investors. Razorpay cited data showing that Indian residents invested $2.65 billion in overseas stocks and debt during FY26, representing a 56% increase compared with the previous year.

Currently, firms facilitating overseas investments often need to coordinate with multiple banks, remittance providers and compliance systems, increasing operational complexity and extending onboarding timelines.

Razorpay said its GIFT City infrastructure is designed to simplify these processes by consolidating payments, compliance and settlement capabilities into a single framework while remaining aligned with the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and applicable GIFT City regulations.

The company plans to further expand its GIFT City operations across global investing, international collections and settlement services, strengthening its position in India’s growing cross-border payments and investment ecosystem.
