Piermont Bank partners with MassPay for cross-border payment
By Divya Shah
Why it matters: The partnership strengthens cross-border payment infrastructure, helping SMBs access global payout capabilities while showcasing how bank-FinTech collaborations can simplify international payments and business expansion.
Piermont Bank, a digital-first commercial bank, partnered with MassPay, a FinTech and global payout orchestration platform, to help growing businesses move money more efficiently across domestic and international markets.
As businesses expand into new regions, they face increasingly complex payment requirements, including paying suppliers, marketplace sellers, contractors and distributed workforces across multiple payment methods. The partnership aims to address these challenges by combining banking infrastructure with global payout capabilities.
Under the collaboration, Piermont Bank will provide its embedded banking services, including payment rails and settlement capabilities, while MassPay will contribute its payout orchestration platform, which supports payments in more than 180 countries. Together, the companies aim to deliver payment solutions that support the evolving needs of growing businesses operating across borders.
Wendy Cai-Lee, founder and CEO of Piermont Bank, said, “At Piermont, we believe banks should provide the trusted financial infrastructure that allows FinTech innovators to focus on what they do best—building solutions around their customers’ needs. Our partnership with MassPay reflects that philosophy, combining the strength of regulated banking with specialised payment technology to support business growth.”
The companies said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to addressing the payment and financial needs of businesses that require flexible domestic and international payment capabilities. By combining their strengths, they seek to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) scale their operations more effectively.
“Going cross-border can grow a business, but it often feels like a huge task, and even companies already working internationally end up expanding market by market because of onboarding and compliance hurdles,” said Ran Grushkowsky, CEO of MassPay. “Our partnership with Piermont Bank closes that gap, giving growing businesses one path to pay people in 180 countries.”
The collaboration also highlights Piermont Bank’s focus on advancing bank-FinTech partnerships through its embedded banking platform. By providing regulated banking infrastructure and expertise, the bank enables FinTech firms to build and scale specialised financial products and services for their customers.
