Tru Cooperative Bank went live with VeriChannel for digital banking
By Divya Shah
Why it matters: This launch demonstrates how collaborative technology models can help smaller financial institutions access enterprise-grade digital banking capabilities. It highlights growing demand for shared banking platforms, creating opportunities for FinTech providers that support digital transformation, customer experience and cloud-based banking innovation.
Tru Cooperative Bank went live with a new commercial digital banking experience developed by VeriPark, powered by its VeriChannel platform, marking a significant step in the evolution of digital banking services for Canadian credit unions.
The solution was designed to provide credit unions with digital banking capabilities comparable to those offered by larger financial institutions while preserving the flexibility and community-focused approach that distinguishes cooperative financial organisations.
VeriPark developed the platform in collaboration with Canadian credit unions, combining its global VeriChannel technology with a dedicated product tailored to the Canadian market. The offering was shaped by the needs and strategic vision of participating institutions, enabling them to benefit from shared innovation while maintaining the ability to deliver unique customer experiences.
The collaborative model allows credit unions to share development costs and resources, helping them access advanced digital capabilities that may otherwise be difficult to build independently. At the same time, participating institutions can continue to customise and differentiate their own digital banking services.
David Dervish, Chief Revenue Officer at VeriPark, said, “This launch demonstrates how our global platform can adapt to local market needs. Tru’s commercial banking deployment is an important milestone in our investment in Canada and shows how shared development can bring broader capabilities to cooperative financial institutions.”
The launch also strengthened the ongoing partnership model behind the platform. Participating credit unions contribute business requirements, customer feedback and operational insights to support the continued development of a common Canadian digital banking product.
Through this approach, institutions can benefit from enhancements developed across the network while retaining their own brand identity and the flexibility to introduce additional capabilities tailored to the needs of their members and business customers.
The deployment highlights the growing focus among credit unions on digital transformation, as institutions seek to modernise commercial banking services, improve customer experiences and compete more effectively in an increasingly digital financial services landscape.
