TBC Bank Uzbekistan introduces Apple Pay
By Divya Shah
Why it matters: The launch highlights the continued growth of digital wallets in Central Asia. By integrating Apple Pay, TBC UZ strengthens mobile payment adoption, improves customer experience and supports the shift toward secure, cashless transactions, creating further opportunities for digital banking and payment innovation.
TBC Bank Uzbekistan (TBC UZ), the country’s digital bank and part of the wider TBC Uzbekistan digital financial ecosystem, introduced Apple Pay for its customers, enabling secure and convenient contactless payments across a range of online and offline channels.
The launch allows customers to make purchases without handing over their payment cards, entering PINs on payment terminals, or using cash. Apple Pay uses the security features built into Apple devices to help protect transactions while offering a faster payment experience.
Every Apple Pay transaction is authenticated through Face ID, Touch ID or a device passcode and is protected by a unique one-time dynamic security code. Customers can use the service at grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, coffee shops, retail outlets, taxis and other locations where Apple Pay is accepted.
In addition to in-store payments, Apple Pay can be used on iPhone, iPad and Mac for purchases made in applications and through the Safari browser. The service simplifies the checkout process by removing the need to repeatedly enter shipping and billing information or create new accounts when shopping online.
The solution can also be used for a variety of everyday transactions, including food and grocery deliveries, transportation services, parking payments and online retail purchases. Customers using Apple Watch can make payments directly from their devices through compatible applications.
The service is designed to deliver a seamless digital payment experience while maintaining high levels of security and convenience for cardholders.
Setting up Apple Pay is straightforward. Customers can add their TBC UZ credit or debit card through the Wallet app on iPhone by selecting the “+” option and following the registration steps. Once the card is added to an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac, the device becomes ready for Apple Pay transactions.
The bank confirmed that customers will continue to receive the existing rewards and benefits associated with their TBC UZ payment cards while using Apple Pay.
