Dougs secures €50m investment to scale AI automation
By Divya Shah
Why it matters: Dougs’ funding highlights growing investor confidence in AI-powered financial management platforms. For FinTechs, it underscores the shift toward agentic AI, automated bookkeeping, and digital accounting services. The investment also shows how profitable fintechs are using artificial intelligence to scale operations, improve efficiency, and expand customer acquisition.
French accounting and financial management FinTech Dougs has secured a €50 million investment from UK-based growth equity firm Expedition Growth Capital to expand its platform and advance its artificial intelligence and automation capabilities.
The Lyon-based company said the new funding will support the continued expansion of its accounting, legal, and financial management services while strengthening its position in the French market through the development of a broader network of local partners.
FinTech is targeting €100 million in ARR and 100,000 customers over the coming years as it continues to scale its operations.
The latest investment follows a previous €25 million funding round led by Expedition in 2023 and signals continued investor confidence in the company’s growth strategy and technology roadmap.
A focus of the funding will be the development of Dougs’ proprietary AI and automation capabilities. The company already uses artificial intelligence to automate elements of bookkeeping and accounting production and plans to expand those capabilities further.
According to the company, the next phase of development involves building agentic AI systems that can autonomously handle a growing share of accounting workflows. Dougs said it is working towards a future where financial statements can be largely produced by AI before being reviewed and signed off by certified accountants.
The company believes these developments will help improve efficiency, reduce manual workloads, and enhance the customer experience for small businesses seeking digital accounting and financial management services.
Dougs has remained profitable since its launch and has built its technology platform entirely in-house. The company currently employs more than 100 engineers and has achieved annual recurring revenue (ARR) exceeding €50 million.
The investment reflects a broader trend across the accounting and fintech sectors, where firms are increasingly investing in AI-driven automation to streamline financial operations, improve productivity, and support scalable growth.
