stc pay Bahrain partners Diebold Nixdorf to expand digital finance services
By Divya Shah
Why this matters: The partnership highlights a growing trend among FinTechs to combine digital-first platforms with physical service points to reach a wider customer base.
stc pay Bahrain has partnered with Diebold Nixdorf to extend its digital financial services into physical locations through the deployment of DN Series cash recyclers and DN Vynamic Software.
The initiative marks Diebold Nixdorf’s engagement with a telecommunications-affiliated financial services provider in the Middle East and highlights the growing convergence of digital finance and physical self-service channels.
The deployment will enable stc pay Bahrain customers to access financial services through self-service kiosks, complementing the company’s mobile wallet offering. The move supports the Central Bank of Bahrain’s vision for a modern and cash-optimised financial ecosystem while giving consumers greater flexibility in how they access services.
Metin Zavrak, CEO of stc pay Bahrain, said the expansion beyond mobile channels will make financial services more accessible while strengthening financial inclusion across the country.
Under the agreement, stc pay Bahrain will install DN Series cash recyclers, with selected units featuring Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) capabilities. Rather than operating as traditional ATMs, the terminals will function as access points to the company’s digital ecosystem, allowing customers to move between cash, cards, mobile wallets and digital services.
The kiosks will support a wide range of transactions, including wallet top-ups, eSIM issuance, domestic and international remittances, bill payments, gift card purchases, transportation card top-ups, charitable donations and cash collection services for SMEs.
The deployment will be powered by DN Vynamic Software, which integrates physical channels with stc pay Bahrain’s digital and payments infrastructure. The platform’s API-driven architecture enables transaction orchestration across channels while supporting the introduction of new services as customer needs evolve.
Habib Hanna, Managing Director, Middle East at Diebold Nixdorf, said the project demonstrates how digital-first fintechs can use self-service technology to establish a physical presence and offer a broader range of consumer services.
The DN Series devices are supported by DN AllConnect Data Engine, which uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimise performance and availability, alongside Vynamic View software for real-time fleet monitoring and management. Local deployment and technical support are being provided through Almoayed Group WLL, Diebold Nixdorf’s licensed partner in Bahrain.
