Reap launches Sentry to manage card fraud service
By Divya Shah
Reap, a financial technology company focused on financial connectivity, has launched Reap Sentry, a managed card fraud and risk service designed to help card issuers oversee transaction risk without building dedicated fraud operations in-house.
The new solution provides end-to-end transaction risk management, covering fraud rule configuration, real-time authorisation screening, alert investigation, chargeback processing and fraud reporting to Visa.
Through Sentry, clients can access fraud management capabilities without deploying additional monitoring tools or establishing specialised fraud teams.
Built on technology used across Reap’s card issuing business, Sentry combines fraud controls, operational processes and risk management tools into a single service.
Harris Leow, Head of Product at Reap, said many organisations launching card programmes face challenges in establishing fraud operations, including investing in specialist tools, expertise and processes. He noted that Sentry is designed to provide clients with access to Reap’s fraud controls, data capabilities and operational specialists through a managed service model.
The offering leverages insights gathered from millions of cards issued over the past eight years, enabling controls to be tailored according to a client’s business model, customer segments, geographic markets and risk appetite.
Sentry screens transactions and blocks suspected fraudulent activity in real time during the authorisation process. The platform also investigates fraud alerts and updates controls continuously to address emerging threats, including BIN attacks and merchant data breaches.
In addition, the service manages chargeback processing and representment, reports confirmed fraud cases and delivers programme performance reporting. Reap said fraud controls are regularly reviewed and refined as card programmes evolve, reducing operational demands on clients.
Clients can integrate with Sentry through a single Reap API. While Reap manages fraud controls at the transaction authorisation layer, clients remain responsible for cardholder-facing activities such as onboarding, identity verification and account access management.
Sentry is available to new card-issuing clients and to existing Reap customers at contract renewal through Reap’s API infrastructure.
