Kalshi Strikes Multi‑Year Deal with Nasdaq to Bolster Market Oversight
By Puja Sharma
Kalshi has entered into a multi‑year agreement with Nasdaq Market Surveillance to strengthen oversight of its trading activity.
By adopting Nasdaq’s advanced monitoring systems, Kalshi aims to bring its prediction markets in line with the standards of traditional exchanges. The partnership will allow for real‑time detection of misconduct such as insider trading and market manipulation, reinforcing Kalshi’s commitment to transparency and investor protection.
The collaboration also ensures that Kalshi’s trading data is properly formatted and delivered to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), meeting regulatory obligations. Nasdaq’s surveillance technology, already trusted by more than fifty exchanges worldwide, provides Kalshi with institutional‑grade infrastructure that can scale as new products and markets are introduced.
Senior figures from both organisations have underlined the importance of the deal. Tony Sio of Nasdaq noted that prediction markets are expanding rapidly and require robust oversight, while Kalshi’s Max Crowley emphasised that access to Nasdaq’s systems gives Kalshi the same protections used by the world’s largest exchanges. This alignment strengthens confidence in Kalshi’s platform as trading volumes increase.
Overall, the partnership marks a significant step forward for prediction markets, which are emerging as one of the fastest‑growing areas in finance. By adopting Nasdaq’s proven surveillance systems, Kalshi is positioning itself as a leader in market integrity, ensuring its event contracts and derivatives remain attractive to institutional investors whilst maintaining compliance with global standards.
