Bluechain expands supplier payments with Visa
By Milan Rojan
Bluechain has joined Visa Europe’s Business Payment Solution Provider (BPSP) programme, enabling businesses to make supplier payments using Visa Commercial Cards within their existing accounts payable workflows, including to suppliers that do not accept card payments.
The partnership has aimed to address inefficiencies in business-to-business payments by bringing invoice processing, approval, payment and reconciliation into a single workflow. Through the programme, buyers have gained the ability to use physical or virtual Visa Commercial Cards to pay supplier invoices at the point of approval, without requiring suppliers to undergo separate card acceptance onboarding.
Tim Annis, Chief Executive Officer of Bluechain, said, “Signing suppliers up never scales, and both sides know it. Buyers want flexibility and choice. Suppliers want simplicity and reliable cash. Removing that friction can have an impact far beyond the payment itself. Being part of Visa’s BPSP programme means businesses no longer have to pay the way their suppliers dictate. They pay the way that works for them.”
The development has come as many finance teams continue to manage accounts payable processes across multiple systems, often creating operational complexity and limiting payment flexibility. According to Visa, commercial card adoption in B2B payments has remained relatively low despite the benefits associated with cashflow management, spend visibility and reconciliation.
Bluechain said the integration has allowed businesses to align payment methods more closely with working capital and procurement objectives while maintaining existing supplier relationships and payment processes.
Lucy Demery, Senior Vice President and Head of Visa Commercial Solutions Europe at Visa, said, “With Bluechain, we’re simplifying how businesses make supply chain payments. That means less friction, better visibility and smarter working capital. This is a great solution for banks and fintechs, to allow buyers to make card-based supplier payments inside the invoice workflow.”
The company noted that card payments have been embedded directly into existing invoice approval workflows, reducing the need for additional systems or manual intervention.
The partnership has highlighted growing demand for integrated payment solutions that simplify accounts payable operations while expanding access to commercial card-based payment options across the B2B ecosystem.
