Visa has invited FinTech startups across Africa to apply for Cohort 6 of its Africa FinTech Accelerator, with applications open until May 17, 2026.

The announcement follows the Cohort 5 Demo Day held at GITEX Africa, where 18 high-growth startups from 10 African countries showcased their solutions. The event marked a milestone for the programme, which has now supported more than 100 startups since its launch.

The three-month accelerator provides mentorship, strategic guidance, and access to Visa’s global network to help FinTech firms scale operations, strengthen products, and unlock new growth opportunities. To date, 104 startups have participated across five cohorts, representing a combined valuation of $1.4 billion.

Visa highlighted several collaborations emerging from the programme. Zazu is working with Chari to launch a neobank for SMEs in Morocco. Credable is partnering with Onafriq to expand digital credit solutions, while Kredete is scaling its stablecoin-linked card offering across multiple markets. Meanwhile, MoneyHash has entered a multi-year agreement to enable Visa’s Cybersource capabilities.

Godfrey Sullivan, Senior Vice President and Head of Product and Solutions for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa at Visa, said, “As the Visa Africa FinTech Accelerator surpasses 100 startups supported, we are seeing how collaboration can drive scale, expand financial access, and shape the future of digital commerce across the continent.”

The programme continues to play a key role in advancing innovation and strengthening Africa’s FinTech ecosystem.
