Weixin Pay taps TBCASoft to launch QR code payments

TBCASoft, will enable Weixin Pay (WeChat Pay) users to seamlessly make QR code payments across PayPay’s extensive merchant network in Japan.
This milestone underscores HIVEX’s commitment to advancing global payment interoperability and supporting the growing demand for frictionless, secure, and customer-centric cross-border transactions. The service is scheduled to go live in mid-September 2025.
Through the integration with HIVEX, Chinese travellers using Weixin Pay will be able to make payments directly at millions of PayPay merchants in Japan simply by scanning PayPay’s QR code stands. The solution eliminates the need for currency exchange or additional app downloads, ensuring a streamlined experience that aligns with the expectations of digitally savvy global travellers.
The collaboration comes at a time of robust tourism growth. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, 797,900 Chinese tourists visited Japan in June 2025, reflecting a 19.9% year-on-year increase. With Weixin and its international service WeChat serving more than 1.4 billion monthly active users globally, the integration holds significant potential to enhance travel, retail, food and beverage, and hospitality spending in Japan.
