The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in the UK has selected payment solutions specialist allpay for its key payment facilitation and collection contract and shift towards Direct Debits.

The Whitestone, Herefordshire-based provider has been awarded a contract which is guaranteed for two years, with a two-year extension option, which has a potential value of £2 million.

The contract win strengthens a 12-year link between the two parties, with allpay currently collecting more than £31m on behalf of the MoJ, processing more than 1.2 million transactions.

allpay will be covering the provision of payment cards, Direct Debit mandates and barcoded payment methods to facilitate payments to various directorates, agencies and Arm’s Length Bodies (ALB) across the MoJ – including Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (MNCTS), Legal Aid Agency (LAA) and the Roadside Police.

“Given the dynamic direction central and local government is taking on digital public service, the confidence shown by the MoJ in awarding allpay this major national contract shows allpay is a ready, quality assured partner to public service organisations toward sector-defining transformation,” Tony Killeen, owner and managing director of allpay, said.

“We are confident this partnership will continue to provide a simple, convenient and secure payment experience for all payers.”

The FinTech was awarded the contract on both quality and commercial value. The current contractual stakeholders are HMCTS for payment of court orders, Police Forces for Fixed Penalty Roadside Deposits and the LAA for collection of legal aid debt.

allpay specialises in bill payment, prepaid and card payment solutions, as well as innovative and value-added services, using the most cost-effective technology available. It has 980 public and private sector clients, processing over £8.5 billion of payment transactions per year for some 4.5 million end-customers.
