Viva.com & Alipay+ enable EU merchants to accept 15 e-wallets
By Gloria Methri
Viva.com, Europe’s acquirer powering payments across 24 countries, has expanded its partnership with Alipay+ to enable European merchants to accept direct payments from 15 e-wallets.
The partnership allows global tourists, mostly from Asia, to pay in businesses across Europe securely and conveniently with their preferred home e-wallets via over 15 e-wallets and banking partners. In addition, visitors will be able to access merchant promotions via Alipay+.
Merchants in all 24 European markets Viva.com operates in are now eligible to enable Alipay+, which allows global tourists to pay with 15 international e-wallets and conveniently access promotions. This collaboration kicks off in time for the upcoming wave of inbound tourism to Europe during ‘Golden Week’ in October.
Viva.com now offers merchants in various business verticals, including travel agencies, retail stores, hotels, restaurants, taxicabs, and more, access to over 40 payment methods, including Alipay+.
Viva.com’s Tap on Any Device technology allows any device—whether mobile, desktop, intelligent interactive or self-checkout—to double its use as a payment terminal, accepting contactless, chip PIN, and QR code payments. This technology supports different checkout journeys, elevating customer service, as transactions can be completed anywhere, eliminating queues and long waiting times.
Alipay+ integration with Viva.com’s in-person payments platform is already live in all 24 European markets Viva.com operates. All existing merchants that currently accept Alipay (Chinese mainland) are automatically eligible for Alipay+, and a growing number of merchants are onboarded daily.
Alipay+ connects over 90 million merchants worldwide and currently supports 1.5 billion users in 66 markets. The 15 e-wallets and mobile partners included in this expanded service span multiple regions, including Alipay (Chinese mainland), AlipayHK (Hong Kong SAR), MPay (Macao SAR), and others from Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea. Additionally, European e-wallets like Tinaba (Italy) and Bluecode (Germany and Austria) are also part of the offering.
