Visa brings seamless QR payments to merchants in Asia Pacific
By Vriti Gothi

Visa has launched the Visa Scan to Pay solution across the Asia Pacific region, representing a step forward in the region’s digital transformation journey. The new capability brings QR payment acceptance to millions of merchants, allowing consumers to make Visa payments seamlessly through their preferred digital wallets and mobile banking apps. Whether shopping locally or travelling abroad, consumers can now enjoy a unified, secure, and flexible payment experience.
As the Asia Pacific continues to lead the global shift toward mobile-first commerce, Visa Scan to Pay is designed to redefine how merchants and consumers connect in an increasingly digital economy. The solution is powered by collaborations with leading banking and payment partners including Samsung Wallet (Asia Pacific¹), LINE Pay (Taiwan), VNPT Money (Vietnam), Woori Card and Hyundai Card (Korea), along with regional QR payment providers such as Lakala (Mainland China), FOMO Pay (Singapore), VNPAY (Vietnam), NextPay (Vietnam), and OpenRice (Hong Kong).
The initiative forms part of the wider launch of Visa Pay, Visa’s integrated payment service that connects participating digital wallets to Visa-accepting merchants worldwide, across both in-store and online channels. Through Visa Pay, consumers can tap, scan, or pay online using their chosen wallets and payment apps, creating a consistent and convenient experience wherever they are.
“As commerce across Asia Pacific becomes increasingly mobile-first, Visa is leading the way with innovations like Scan to Pay that accelerate QR payment adoption,” said T.R. Ramachandran, Head of Products and Solutions, Asia Pacific, Visa. “By enabling millions of merchants to accept secure, seamless payments by tapping or scanning, we’re not only expanding digital acceptance but also empowering consumers with more flexible ways to pay anytime, anywhere.”
Visa Scan to Pay enhances the payment experience for both consumers and merchants. For consumers, it delivers a smooth, secure, and familiar way to transact, supported by Visa’s trusted global network that ensures every payment is reliable and protected. For merchants, the solution broadens acceptance and supports business growth by leveraging existing QR infrastructure, reducing operational complexity, and opening access to international customers who prefer digital wallets from their home countries.
