Ultumus and BMLL partner to power next-gen ETF analytics
By Vriti Gothi
Ultumus, a provider of ETF and index data, has partnered with BMLL Technologies, enhance transparency, optimise trading performance, and support innovation across the ETF ecosystem.
The strategic integration brings together Ultumus’ comprehensive ETF reference and index data with BMLL’s granular, cloud-based analytics infrastructure. The result is a powerful, future-ready solution that enables market participants worldwide to access and analyse ETF data with unprecedented accuracy and depth.
As part of the agreement, Ultumus will utilise BMLL’s harmonised, historical market data to evaluate the impact of its Portfolio Composition File (PCF) service on trading efficiency. This integration equips ETF issuers, asset managers, and trading venues with actionable insight into market dynamics, unlocking a new level of precision in ETF liquidity analysis and spread performance.
At the same time, BMLL’s extensive global user base, which includes banks, brokers, asset managers, hedge funds, exchanges, regulators, and academic institutions, will gain access to Ultumus’ ETF reference data and issuer-published metrics. This data will be made available daily, before market open, across all regions via BMLL’s Python-based research environment, the BMLL Data Lab, as well as its intuitive data visualisation platform, BMLL Vantage.
The partnership has already demonstrated measurable impact. A leading European ETF issuer, leveraging Ultumus’ PCF augmented by BMLL’s analytics, reported a 16% reduction in spread threshold breaches and a 12% improvement in overall trading performance, validating the combined solution’s potential to elevate market quality and inform smarter trading decisions.
Bernie Thurston, CEO of Ultumus, said, “At Ultumus, our focus is on delivering measurable value through data innovation. By utilising BMLL’s granular Level 3 data and analytics, we’re able to quantify how accurate, timely fund data improves trading outcomes and market efficiency for clients using Ultumus’ Portfolio Composition File (PCF) service. This collaboration underscores our commitment to innovation and to delivering real benefits for ETF issuers and the broader trading ecosystem.”
Paul Humphrey, CEO of BMLL, said, “Adding ETF data from Ultumus is part of BMLL’s ongoing strategy to broaden our content and data coverage globally, which already includes historical market data from over 100 trading venues and our equities offering covering 100% of the MSCI World Index. We’re very excited to collaborate with Ultumus as our global customer base is now able to use these combined data sets to deepen their understanding of ETF liquidity dynamics, how these shift over time, and gain insights that will help them differentiate themselves in a competitive landscape.”
