Mumbai, India | London, UK--Following the resounding success of the 2024 edition, IBS Intelligence (IBSi) is gearing up for an even more dynamic and globally resonant Global FinTech Innovation Awards (GFIA) 2025. Now entering its seventh year, the awards continue to recognise cutting-edge innovation in the banking and financial technology landscape, bringing together the best minds and tech implementations from across the globe.

The 2024 edition set new records—with 400+ submissions, up by a remarkable 60% year-on-year. Entries poured in from 155 banks and financial institutions and 90 technology vendors, showcasing the growing appetite for innovation and collaboration between tech providers and financial players.

Some of the most fiercely contested categories last year included Core Banking, Digital Lending, Digital Banking, Digital Onboarding, and Use of AI/ML—each receiving over 30 entries. The sheer volume and quality of submissions led to multiple joint winners across several categories, reflecting just how advanced and competitive the FinTech innovation ecosystem has become.

So, what’s in store for GFIA 2025?

With nominations now open, here’s what participants, observers, and industry leaders can expect this year:

  • Even more global representation: Building on last year’s momentum, GFIA 2025 is expected to appeal to a broader pool of banks and tech vendors from emerging and established markets alike.
  • New and evolving categories: With the FinTech landscape rapidly changing, categories such as GenAI, financial inclusion, and identity management, among others, are gaining traction. Expect updated categories that reflect the newest frontiers in FinTech.
  • Deeper collaboration stories: GFIA 2025 will continue to spotlight successful bank-tech partnerships and real-world outcomes, with a stronger focus on scalability, customer impact, and regulatory alignment.
  • Data-driven judging process: The awards will once again rely on IBSi’s deep research capabilities and proprietary analytics to ensure fair, transparent, and insight-led evaluations.
  • Increased visibility for winners: GFIA winners gain year-long exposure via IBSi’s platforms, editorial coverage, and event integrations, making it a powerful validation of their innovation efforts.

Whether you’re a bank reimagining customer journeys or a tech provider building scalable, API-first platforms, GFIA 2025 promises to be a global stage for game-changers in the financial technology space.

Nominations are now open — and if last year is any indicator, the competition will be fierce and the innovation, phenomenal.
