Stripe has partnered with NEC Corporation to explore the integration of the Stripe Reader S700, a next-generation payment terminal within the Stripe Terminal unified commerce solution, with NEC’s facial recognition payment service. This collaboration aims to advance secure, seamless, and frictionless hands-free payments, redefining the future of in-person digital transactions through cutting-edge innovation and trusted technology.

By combining Stripe’s global payments infrastructure with NEC’s world-leading facial recognition technology, the partnership seeks to deliver a new standard of convenience and safety for consumers while empowering merchants to enhance operational efficiency. The integrated solution will enable users to make payments using facial recognition eliminating the need for cards or devices and offering a truly contactless experience that prioritises both security and simplicity.

Stripe and NEC will showcase this next-generation face recognition payment experience using the Stripe Reader S700 at the Singapore FinTech Festival, taking place from November 12 to 14, 2025.

The Stripe Terminal platform serves as a comprehensive unified commerce solution, connecting online and in-person payments across 25 countries. Through a single, real-time dashboard, it provides businesses with data-driven insights that enhance customer engagement and streamline operations. The Wi-Fi-enabled Stripe Reader S700—designed for both countertop and handheld use offers a sleek, smartphone-style interface that delivers reliability, speed, and ease of use in diverse retail environments.

“Through this collaboration, Stripe is proud to support NEC’s world-renowned face recognition technology, enabling its use for payments through our unified commerce solution, Stripe Terminal,” said Daniel Heffernan, Product Lead of Stripe Japan. “By taking this step, we aim to enhance the shopping experience for consumers around the world.”

“NEC is confident that the advanced customisability of the unified commerce solution Stripe Terminal will help to address a wide range of challenges in face-to-face payment scenarios,” said Kazuhisa Shimizu, Corporate Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Financial Solutions Division, NEC Corporation. “By combining NEC’s world-class face recognition technology with Stripe’s globally trusted payment platform, we aim to provide a new payment experience and create a world where everyone can safely, easily, and conveniently utilise digital technology.”
