spektr raises $20m in Series A to expand AI platform

spektr, a Copenhagen-based company developing AI infrastructure for compliance in financial services, has raised $20 million in a Series A funding round led by NEA, with participation from existing investors Northzone, Seedcamp and PSV Tech.
The company said the funding will be used to expand its AI platform and accelerate adoption among financial institutions globally.
“Compliance technology has mostly focused on workflow and data collection,” said Mikkel Skarnager, CEO and co-founder of spektr. “But the real bottleneck has always been the work itself – analysts researching companies, interpreting information, and documenting decisions. spektr automates those tasks with AI agents designed specifically for KYC and KYB compliance.”
Compliance teams continue to rely heavily on manual processes, including reviewing corporate documents, mapping ownership structures and assessing risk. spektr aims to automate these workflows through a platform of specialised AI agents that replicate tasks typically performed by analysts, such as researching companies, verifying business activity and generating structured risk assessments.
“Financial institutions are under constant pressure to do more compliance work with fewer resources,” said Luke Pappas, Partner at NEA. “spektr is tackling the most manual part of compliance operations in financial services. Their approach has the potential to redefine how compliance operations are run.”
The platform enables financial institutions to design onboarding and monitoring processes and deploy networks of AI agents within them. This shifts compliance operations from manual, analyst-led tasks to more automated processes, with human teams reviewing outputs.
spektr said its platform is already in use by banks, financial institutions and enterprises, including Pleo, Santander Leasing, Mercuryo, Phantom and Monta.
