SimplyGo and Embed Financial Group Holdings (EFGH) have entered into a strategic partnership to develop embedded micro-insurance services within the SimplyGo app, expanding financial services access through Singapore’s public transport ecosystem.

The collaboration aims to allow users to discover and access micro-insurance products directly through the SimplyGo platform, which is widely used for daily public transit payments and ticketing.

Under the agreement, EFGH will support the design, development and implementation of embedded insurance capabilities, including digital policy fulfilment, premium collection and real-time policy issuance. The insurance products will be underwritten by MSIG Insurance.

The companies said the initiative is intended to make insurance products more contextual and easier to access by integrating them into an existing everyday-use platform. The products are expected to be tailored around customer needs and commuting-related usage scenarios.

EFGH’s licensed insurance affiliate, Embed Global, will exclusively manage insurance facilitation and sales activities. Meanwhile, SimplyGo’s role will be limited to marketing and providing access to insurance products through the app.

Dennis Ng, Executive Chairman and Global CEO of Embed Financial Group Holdings, said the partnership reflects changing customer expectations around digital financial services.

“People increasingly expect useful services to appear naturally within the platforms they already use. This partnership is about making protection easier to access, at the right moment, inside a journey that already exists,” Ng said.

Tan Kim Hong, CEO of SimplyGo, said the company sees opportunities to extend value-added services as user needs evolve.

The partnership highlights the growing adoption of embedded finance models, where payments, insurance and other financial services are integrated into non-financial digital platforms to improve accessibility and user convenience.
