Rydoo acquires Semine to boost AI-powered spend automation
By Vriti Gothi
Rydoo, a digital expense management platform, has acquired Semine, an Oslo-based FinTech, to redefine how modern businesses manage, control, and optimise their spend lifecycle.
Founded in 2015 by Robert Kristiansen, Semine has emerged as a trusted AP automation partner for over 10,000 clients in 25 countries. Leveraging advanced machine learning and pattern recognition, Semine’s platform intelligently analyses, classifies, and processes incoming invoices across diverse formats and workflows. Its robust AI capabilities automate accounting dimensions with exceptional accuracy, helping finance teams achieve greater efficiency and compliance.
The integration of Semine’s technology will strengthen Rydoo’s comprehensive Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) expense management offering, delivering a unified platform that automates the entire spend journey — from employee expenses to supplier invoices. This expanded capability will empower Rydoo’s one million users worldwide with deeper control, smarter automation, and actionable insights to drive strategic decision-making.
Sebastien Marchon, CEO of Rydoo, said, “This acquisition represents a pivotal moment for Rydoo and our customers. By embedding Semine’s market-leading AP automation into our platform, we are unlocking new levels of intelligence, control, and compliance for finance teams globally. Our solution will gradually evolve to deliver AI-powered policy checks, automated approval flows, and continuous compliance monitoring — enabling our customers to stay ahead in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.”
The acquisition also signals Rydoo’s intent to expand its footprint in the Nordic region, building on Semine’s strong market presence and technical expertise. Supported by a majority investment from Eurazeo, the London-based asset management firm backing Rydoo’s growth ambitions, the company is well positioned to deliver on its vision of transforming spend management into a fully automated, strategic function.
Looking ahead, Rydoo will focus on a seamless integration of Semine’s capabilities, with a clear roadmap to further enhance AI-driven spend controls, cross-border compliance, and real-time insights. By uniting expense and AP processes under one intelligent, user-centric platform, Rydoo reaffirms its commitment to setting new benchmarks for digital finance transformation.
