Revolut has introduced an in-app artificial intelligence assistant, marking a strategic step towards embedding conversational AI into everyday financial services. The new feature, branded AIR (AI by Revolut), is being rolled out to customers across the UK and is positioned as a shift from traditional app navigation to more intuitive, dialogue-based interactions.

AIR is designed to function as a deeply integrated financial assistant within the Revolut ecosystem, enabling users to manage multiple aspects of their financial lives through a single conversational interface. The assistant allows customers to access spending insights, track investments, manage subscriptions, and control cards without navigating through multiple app sections.

The launch reflects a broader industry trend towards “money intelligence”, where financial platforms leverage AI to deliver contextual, real-time insights and streamline user experience. By embedding AI at the core of its interface, Revolut aims to reduce friction in financial decision-making and increase user engagement across its services.

Beyond core banking functions, AIR extends into lifestyle use cases, including travel planning support, budgeting for trips, and facilitating purchases such as in-app eSIMs. This positions the assistant as a multi-functional tool that integrates financial management with day-to-day consumer activities.

The company has also emphasised data privacy in the rollout. AIR operates under a zero data retention policy with third-party AI partners, ensuring that user information is not stored externally or used to train external models. The assistant accesses only the data already visible to customers within the app, such as transactions, cards, and investment details.

Julia Ponomaverva, Director and General Manager of CX and AI Products at Revolut said, “We believe the era of navigating through endless tabs and menus is over. With AIR, we’re delivering a new level of money intelligence that’s both powerful and effortless. It’s not just an assistant; it’s a co-pilot that elevates everyday life, making financial management as easy and natural as sending a text. Crucially, Revolut customers also remain firmly in the driver’s seat, ensuring that money intelligence never comes at the cost of privacy.”

The introduction of AIR underscores intensifying competition among FinTechs and digital banks to differentiate through AI-led user experiences. As institutions increasingly integrate generative and conversational AI into their platforms, the focus is shifting from standalone features to fully embedded, ecosystem-driven intelligence layers that can personalise and automate financial interactions at scale.
