Freemarket, Axiym enable primary market stablecoin access
By Divya Shah
Freemarket and Axiym have introduced LIQUI-DT™, a new service designed to provide businesses with real-time access to freshly minted USD₮ from the primary market through a regulated payments ecosystem integrated with Tether.
The service enables businesses to access primary market stablecoins within Freemarket’s global payments network, combining compliant fiat payment infrastructure with blockchain-based liquidity and settlement capabilities.
LIQUI-DT is aimed at institutional users and high-volume traders seeking direct liquidity access and greater price certainty. By sourcing USD₮ directly from the primary market, businesses gain enhanced transparency and provenance of funds, supporting treasury management, compliance requirements and internal reporting processes.
Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, said, “Compliant access to primary market stablecoins inside a fully regulated payment ecosystem is a massive unlock for us. The combination of Freemarket’s compliance-first payments network, integrated with Axiym’s dynamic application layer, connected directly into Tether, allows Tether to sit closer to where payments happen.”
The service integrates Freemarket’s regulated payment rails and global network with Axiym’s liquidity engine and on-chain settlement layer, while Tether provides primary market issuance of USD₮. The companies noted that Tether’s role is limited to issuing the stablecoin and does not extend to operating the network or providing payment and settlement services.
Freemarket said the structure provides operational checks and balances, reduces concentration risk and strengthens regulatory confidence by distributing responsibilities across multiple participants in the ecosystem. The company also claims it is currently the only non-issuer with both extensive fiat payment infrastructure and live access to USD₮ minting capabilities through regulated partners.
Andy Lyons, Chief Growth Officer at Freemarket, said, “We want the same for businesses. We are the only non-issuer with both deep fiat infrastructure and live USD₮ stablecoin mint capabilities. We can now connect the stack end-to-end, and move money into USD₮ instantly, globally, securely and compliantly through our LIQUI-DT™ service.”
The service is designed to support businesses dealing with settlement frictions, liquidity constraints and treasury challenges in regions across Asia, Africa and Latin America, enabling faster and compliant digital transactions through its payments and treasury management network.
